Dr. Mohamed Nooman Ahmed

Dr. Ahmed is an IBM Distinguished Engineer, Public Sector Watson & Cognitive Computing CTO and Manager at IBM. He is leading a team of scientists and software engineers in projects related to Machine Learning Signal and Image processing, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, and Multi-lingual Information Retrieval, Document Understanding.
Prior to joining IBM in 2010, Dr. Ahmed was a Senior Researcher at Lexmark International and an Adjunct Professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, University of Louisville, USA, teaching graduate courses in random fields and estimation theory, and machine learning.
Dr. Ahmed holds 16 U.S. patents, 25 filed patents, and has published over 50 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. He graduated with highest honors from the University of Louisville with Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering. He obtained his B.S. and M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Cairo University, Egypt, in 1989 and 1992, respectively.
